LinkedIn | Deep Focus
Mountain View, CA · 5,000 sq ft

Credits & Story
Completed in 2023, the Deep Focus space on LinkedIn's Mountain View campus transformed a 5,000-square-foot, underutilized interior zone into a sanctuary for high-concentration work. The project pioneers a mood-based, low-stimulus environment where distraction is minimized by design. Moving through the space feels like a gentle journey inward: a three-chamber layout gradually guides you from lightly dampened touchdown areas to deeply secluded, user-controlled private pods. By pairing dark, rich color palettes with tactile acoustic finishes, warm ambient lighting, and tuned airflow, the environment actively lowers cognitive noise, creating a welcoming, library-like atmosphere where teams can escape daily office chatter and dive straight into uninterrupted flow-state work.
My favorite detail
How a previously dim, windowless footprint was embraced rather than hidden. Instead of trying to mimic harsh artificial daylight, the design leaned into deep, moody tones and soft, indirect illumination, turning an underused corner into an incredibly cozy, cocoon-like haven where you instantly feel calm and focused.
